What a Progressive HO-3 actually is
Progressive markets home insurance heavily but underwrites very little of it directly — most Progressive HO-3 policies are issued by partner carriers (ASI / American Strategic, Homesite, others) and serviced through Progressive’s portal. The actual policy form, sublimits, and claim process depend on which partner carrier holds the contract.
Coverages A–F are industry-standard, but the partner carrier’s specific HO-3 form and endorsements vary. Check the declarations page for the underwriting company name in small print — that’s the carrier you’re actually insured with.
Sublimits and claim handling
Sublimits vary by partner carrier. Mold typically $5,000 in the base form; water backup typically an add-on endorsement. Ordinance-and-law usually 10% of Coverage A with buy-up available.
Claim intake usually starts through Progressive’s portal, then routes to the underwriting partner’s claims team. The hand-off can introduce delay and miscommunication — keep all correspondence with both Progressive and the partner carrier’s direct contact information once it’s assigned.
Why the underwriting partner matters
A "Progressive" home claim might be adjusted by ASI staff, Homesite contractors, or another partner’s field adjuster. The behavior patterns, settlement preferences, and supplement responsiveness differ by partner. Treat the partner carrier’s name on the declarations as the operative entity for all claim strategy.
In hurricane-prone states, the partner carrier sets the hurricane deductible structure. ASI policies in FL, for example, typically apply a 2–5% hurricane deductible separately from the AOP deductible.
